Latest News of Lalgarh Operation

On the latest ground situation, forces are moving towards Lalgarh, they are moving cautiously. The operation is going according to plans.
Heavily armed police and para military forces are battling to push their way into Lalgarh. They plan to break the Maoist siege of the area through a three pronged attack.

But the Maoists have destroyed a bridge on the path of the advancing forces. They are using women and children as human shields, something that they are not known to do.

Police sources say government orders are strictly to avoid firing as far as possible. The government does not want a Nandigram repeat.

The West Bengal government should ban the Left extremist outfit, Communist Party of India-Maoist, which has declared the state's Lalgarh area a "liberated zone" and wreaked havoc there, said Home Minister P Chidambaram on Friday.

The CPI-Maoist is banned in Jharkhand, Orissa, Chhattisgarh and Andhra Pradesh, where the Maoists have a presence.
"So far the operation is going according to plans but they must be prepared for the unexpected. I sincerely hope that with the kind of action we have advised, the operation will be successful," Home Minister P Chidambaram said on Friday .
