10 years of Kargil war | Pay tributes to our heroes

10 years ago Pakistani forces made an incursion into the Punjab region of India which, when scrutinized from even afar, represents a milestone not only for the people of that region, but for all of us.

July 26th is that day, people of India remember and pay tribute to heroes of the Kargil War, a momentous engagement on the frontier between India and Pakistan.

Kargil, a ghost town during the war, was today abuzz with stories of valour and courage of Indian soldiers who took part in 'Operation Vijay' as their famillies descended here to take part in two-day celebrations to mark the victory.
Tears rolled down the faces of family members of the fallen soldiers of Kargil war at the sight of memorials unveiled on Saturday for their loved ones who helped trounce the Pakistani army while colleagues and superiors paid emotional tributes to the heroes.
