Ricky Ponting quits T20 Internationals

Ricky PontingAustralian captain Ricky Ponting will no more feature in Twenty20 Internationals as he decided to announce his retirement on Monday, however, he would complete his contract with the Kolkata Knight Riders for the Indian Premier League.

The swashbuckling batsman of Australian cricket, Ricky Pointing made his way out of the new cricket format as he decided to quit Twenty20 Internationals on Monday.

He now plans to focus his career on the other forms of the game including Test cricket, One day Internationals, Tasmania's KFC Big Bash along with fulfilling his contract with the Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League following his announcement on sidelining the T20 Internationals.

Ponting has played 17 Twenty20 Internationals, scoring 401 runs at an average of 28.64 and with a healthy strike rate of 132.78.

The 34-year-old Australian, cannot be doubted of his capabilities that is regarded as one of the best batsmen of his era to have amassed more than 11,000 runs in his kitty of both Test and ODIs.

Cricket Australia officials have stated feeling the hiatus created by experienced cricketers like Pointing.

The team members are also feeling the pinch of his not so sudden announcement of quitting the game.
