Diwali celebrated with devotion and enthusiasm

Diwali, the festival of light is being celebrated across the country with traditional gaiety and fervor by the people on Saturday.

The Goddess Lakshmi, deity of wealth and prosperity, is being worshiped on this day and her blessings are invoked for a good year ahead.

There is a legend behind this festival. Lord Rama after killing Ravan and completing his exile of 14 years returned Ayodhya on this very day, all people in Ayodhya had lightened their houses for his welcome and displayed fireworks.

Since than Deepawali is celebrated as a festival of devotion, hopes and lights.
