Thousands of people witnessed the longest solar eclipse of the Century on July 22nd, 2009.
Google designed their homepage with solar eclipse logo.The total phase of the eclipse lasted for about 6 minutes and 44 seconds, making it the longest eclipse of the century.
Seconds before the Sun was fully blocked by the lunar disc, a brilliant ‘diamond ring’ formed in the sky. Moments later, brightness dropped dramatically as totality began, a phase technically called second contact that began at 10 seconds past 6.24am .
